Owner - Capt. Joyce
Capt. Joyce is a 100-ton Master Capt. and the owner of Narcosis Scuba Center. She is also a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with over 26 years experience in the dive industry. Former owner of Land O' Lakes Scuba, she moved the dive operation to Tarpon Springs in 1996 and changed the name to Narcosis Scuba Center. Capt. Joyce worked her way from an Open Water Diver in 1987 and worked her way to become a MSDT Instructor by 1990. Once a PADI Open Water Instructor it did not take long for her to gain the rating of Master Scuba Diver Trainer. She holds 16 specialty ratings with PADI. #37900 Capt. Joyce enjoys teaching all levels of diving, especially children and teenagers. She is well know for her underwater hunting and loves to share that knowledge with other divers as an Underwater Hunting instructor. |
Mike Fox – Capt.
Capt. Mike Fox is a veteran of Desert Storm, and he offers over 30 years of experience as a Capt. He is also a very skilled fisherman and knows some of the best fishing and diving locations to go to in the Gulf. Capt. Mike has been with Narcosis for over 10 years. He says if you ever think about moving to Florida, wait until 5 min. after it rains to shop for houses (to check for flooding)! Wise words, indeed. |
Charlie Barnes - Instructor & Service Technician
Charlie's Diving Career started in the early 90's. He is a Divemaster & Instructor who is able to teach: Nitrox, Advanced, Handicap Divers, Handicap Advanced, Solo Divers, Fossil Divers, Recreational Trimix, and much more! Charlie’s started working on scuba equipment in 2006. He is a certified technician in: Aqualung, Atomic Aquatics, Hollis, Dive Rite, Oceanic, Sherwood, Spare Air, Zeagle, and is also a certified Inspector with Professional Scuba Inspectors (PSI). He is a wonderful part of the Narcosis Scuba family and he is what helps make our dive shop unique and one of a kind. Charlie is one of the best Instructors you will ever have in your life, and he is now in charge of training and managing all Instructors for Narcosis Scuba! |
Instructor Steven Salib
There are three things that Steven loves most about diving. Teaching ,diving, and bubble making. Educate, Equip and Explore is his motto when it comes to his teaching style. Give him a Tank, a set of regs and a body of water and he is in his element. Favorite destination? Gulf of Mexico – Clear warm water great visibility a whole range of marine life- What more could you ask for. Favorite Dive Site? RJ Thompson. This wreck is just magnificent both day and night always lots to see and a great wreck for simple penetration dives. Other than that it would have to be Mala in Lanzarote – A Volcanic dive site – Fantastic underwater topography and always lots of Rays and Angel Sharks Favorite marine life? I’m a huge fan of the Octopus and Giant Morays. But also love seeking out the nudibranch and sea horses. Which countries have you dived in? The UK (what a great place to dive) , Egypt, Israel, Gulf of Mexico, and the Bahamas Diving Qualifications PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and Emergency First Response Instructor. Steven also can teach the following specialty diving courses; Peak Performance Buoyancy, Equipment Specialist, and Enriched Air. |
Instructor Joe Lloyd
Joe is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor who has been with Narcosis for over 5 years. Students and divers alike rave about his knowledge, experience, advice, and patience to ensure safety. Joe is very proud to have certified his son, Jayden, in July 2018, and Joe enjoys spearfishing in the Gulf whenever he gets the chance to bring fresh fish home to his family! |
Instructor Mustufa Harianawala
Mustufa is a PADI MSDT Instructor and Divemaster who has been with Narcosis since January 20, 2014. He loves cooking, traveling, adventure sports, reading, and watching documentaries. Mustufa earned the Elite Instructor Award by PADI in 2016 for outstanding accomplishment in PADI Diver Training, and many students and divers appreciate his sense of calm, patience, and thorough teaching instruction. |
Autumne Gordy
Autumne is a very passionate diver has been diving for over 19 years. Was certified since she was 10 years old. Started spearfishing at the age of 11. Takes culmination of her diving and her business experience to run the inner workings of the shop. Trip organizer and staff facilitator...Loves Sharks! |
Divemaster Art Barreto
Art is a passionate diver. Art is a retired wild land firefighter from California. Has multiple dives under his belt, very experienced from diving worldwide. He has been diving for years and is now a Divemaster since 2013. He has been working for Narcosis since July 2017. He is always happy to discuss the ocean with anyone who has questions or shares his passion. |
Divemaster Pete Wheldon
I was born in Omaha, NE and raised in Ponca Hills by two wonderful parents whom I love very very much and owe all of my health and happiness to. I have two older brothers and an older half-brother whom I also love dearly. I am the Rigging Project Manager at Heartland Scenic Studio and an aspiring scuba diving instructor. |
George Wentzler
George has a passion for diving, has been working for Narcosis since the summer of 2019. He is an Eagle Scout, loves the outdoors and anything that has to do with the water. Vast knowledge in spearfishing. Is Vip certified, and has very good understanding to how tanks should be properly handled and cared for. Very helpful and always looking to land a hand in and out of the store. Has a very keen love for video games! |
Titan – Captain Joyce’s Service Dog
Titan is a Great Pyrenees service dog that was born on December 16th, 2016. His mom, Captain Joyce, takes wonderful care of him and lets him frequently visit the shop. Titan was trained at 12 weeks old to be a service dog. He loves the water, loves coming to visit the scuba shop, likes playing with other dogs, and he also loves cats! If you visit the shop and see Titan, please be respectful and do not pet him (remember he is a service dog) and do not bring other dogs around him without asking Captain Joyce first. Thank you!
